The performance of Ten Drum is a visual and audiological feast. The different tones of every drum along with the beautiful melodies can grasp the mind of each of their audience, touching their heart with the combination of strength and beauty.
The artist takes Ten Drum Culture Village as an inspiration, bringing one big drum along with ten other small drums into this piece of art. The whole project, including its visual design and the rhythm it creates, uses chrysalis as a metaphor for the transformation of Ten Drum Culture Village, revealing the hardships it faced during its reconstruction.
The bigger drum in the middle symbolizes the spirit and core value of the Culture Village. On the other hand, the ten smaller drums surrounding it represent the name of the village, Ten Drum. The motor chimes the bells in the big drum while the drumsticks on the bottoms of the small drums naturally collide, creating a harmonious tempo that matches its visual design. The artist uses local bamboo as the main material as a feature of Taiwanese culture, adding steel as the final touch of the project to mark the creator’s unique style of art. The design itself is a perfect combination of Ten Drum, local spirit, and the artist’s own characteristics.
